Thursday Night Programming

March 15, 2010 § 2 Comments

I’m very pleased to report that we have reached the 60% mark on registration, and this is just as our registration forms hit the street in the current issue of Magicol.

Now, back to our regular program…or programming. As mentioned in a previous entry, we’ve lined up a full day of activities on Thursday: The Dealers Room, the Dealers’ Show, and Tricks Old and Seldom Seen will make for a great afternoon.

We will then break for dinner. Although there is a restaurant on site, there are plenty of restaurants near the hotel. Here is a list of restaurants if you want a preview. This list provided by the Westin will give you an idea of the range. Just make sure that you save room for dessert – with us!

We have three presentations lined up for Thursday evening. Starting at 8:00 pm, Sandy Marshall will speak about his dad, Jay Marshall, and highlight a few things that he wanted to put into the book – Beating A Dead Horse – but for various reasons, which hopefully he will share with us – didn’t. I can’t think of a better way to start Thursday evening than discussing Jay Marshall, someone who was, for many years – along with Frances – the lifeblood of the MCA. And, who better to talk about Jay, than Sandy!

We will then have the chance to hear from our two honored guests – George Daily and Mike Caveney. It’s odd that we make our Honored Guests sing for their supper, but who are we to argue with tradition. I have spoken with George and Mike about their presentations, and they certainly have some great ideas up their sleeves. I can hardly wait. The formal part of the evening concludes with a coffee and dessert reception where we can mingle with the Honored Guests, renew old acquaintances and meet new ones.

I used the word “formal’ because, as in the past, we’ll have the chance to hang around the bar and enjoy a cocktail or two until the wee hours of the morning. I suppose, however, you don’t want to stay up too late as we have a full slate of presenters scheduled starting the next morning.

Stay tuned! More conference news en route….
